This Sand Section home was designated a culturally significant landmark by the City of Manhattan Beach in 2010 for its “embodiment of distinguishing characteristics of an architectural style valuable for the study of a period, type, method of construction, or use of indigenous materials.”

The house located at 216 4th Street is one of the very early homes in Manhattan Beach. It was built in 1912 in the popular Craftsman style, with the flared eaves of the Dutch style hip-on-gable roof supported by piers. Though it has been modified over the years, it has retained its original Craftsman features and changes have retained the style.
